High-quality project planned on 10,000 square metres of land
A new project development is planned for the 10,000 square meter Kaufhof Saarbrücken site. A few months after filing for insolvency, the creditors' meeting approved the sale. The unnamed buyer intends to use the new project to upgrade Bahnhofstrasse in Saarbrücken's city center.
Kaufhof Saarbrücken GmbH filed for insolvency proceedings at the Berlin-Charlottenburg district court on January 19 of this year. In May, insolvency administrator Prof Dr Torsten Martini from the law firm GÖRG initiated a structured sales process for the site with a land area of around 10,000 square meters, a building area of over 50,000 square meters and a multi-storey parking lot with 600 parking spaces.
"We were able to negotiate the purchase agreements in a very short time and achieve an excellent result for the creditors. I would like to thank the Sparkasse Saarbrücken as the mortgagee for its exceptionally constructive cooperation," explained insolvency administrator Prof Dr Torsten Martini. He was advised on the transaction by the law firm Greenberg Traurig. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or further details.
"Our client is planning a new project to bring back the old glamour to the Bahnhofstrasse in Saarbrücken city centre. The multi-storey car park with access to Kaiserstraße is also to be revitalised and re-let," said Lars Theis of REITS Family Office, which acquired the site for the buyer.
