GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB has advised Ampega Asset Management GmbH, a subsidiary of Talanx AG based in Cologne, on the acquisition of the AMAZON distribution centre in Helmstedt, Lower Saxony, for a group company. The seller is the BAUM Unternehmensgruppe.
The state-of-the-art logistics centre, developed as a turnkey project by the BAUM Unternehmensgruppe and built by general contractor Max Bögl, was completed in 2022 and has around 54,000 m² of warehouse space. The property, which is located directly on the A2 motorway, is operated by an innovative heating system using rooftops for the heating, cooling and ventilation functions. By using heat recovery, the efficiency of the air/heat pumps has been further increased in line with the principle of sustainability. The BAUM Unternehmensgruppe was awarded the DGNB Platinum certificate for this. The property is let to Amazon Distribution GmbH on a long-term lease. It plays a key role as a pre-sorting centre (cross dock) in the business-to-business sector and, as one of two IXD redistribution centres for goods in Germany, is a strategically important property. Around twelve million goods are redistributed each week at the Helmstedt site.
