GÖRG advises on turbine supply and service agreement for Phase II of the Trianel Borkum Wind Farm

05.12.2016

[Cologne, ] GÖRG has advised Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum II GmbH & Co. KG (TWB II) during its call for tenders, negotiation and conclusion of a turbine supply and service agreement with Senvion for Phase II of the Trianel Borkum Wind Farm. Currently, the entry into force of the agreement is subject to the issue of the construction decision. In particular, we advised on the structuring and development of the agreement as well as on the EU-wide tender procedure. We also assisted during negotiations with bidders and in the discussions with the financing banks.

Under the terms of the agreement concluded, Senvion will supply 32 Senvion 6.XM152 offshore wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of approx. 6.34 MW, and provide an all-round service and maintenance package for these. After the completion of Phase II, which should occur by the end of 2019, the Trianel Borkum wind farm will have an installed capacity of approximately 203 MW.

Phase II of Trianel's Borkum wind farm project will expand the existing wind farm, which was commissioned in September 2015 and is located in the North Sea 45 km north of the German island of Borkum. The commencement of construction of the municipal offshore wind farm is planned for the beginning of 2018.

The Trianel Group is a long standing client of GÖRG's and GÖRG has for years been advising the cooperation of municipal utility companies and their project companies on the planning and financing of numerous large projects. Accordingly, GÖRG also assisted, among other things, during the project development planning and financing for phase 1 of the Trianel Borkum wind farm. In addition, GÖRG regularly advises Trianel in connection with the acquisition and development of onshore wind farms and photovoltaic systems.
