Under the leadership of Cologne-based partner Dr Thomas Lange, GÖRG has advised healthcare specialist SHS Capital on financing the acquisition of a majority stake in Medizintechnik Rostock GmbH (MTR). Details of the purchase price and other transaction specifics remain confidential.
SHS Capital, headquartered in Tübingen and founded in 1993, is a private equity firm that invests in innovtive healthcare companies across Europe. Its focus lies on growth financing, shareholder transitions, and succession planning. SHS funds are backed by a diverse group of national and international investors, including pension funds, fund-of-funds, entrepreneurs, and the SHS management team.
Through this acquisition, SHS Capital facilitates the succession planning for MTR. The two shareholders and managing directors will retain a significant stake in the company, ensuring their continued close involvement. The investment aims to strengthen MTR’s core business and support its nationwide expansion efforts, thereby improving patient access to therapies across Germany. SHS Capital leverages its expertise and experience in the homecare sector, demonstrated in previous investments.
The investment was made through SHS VI, the sixth generation of SHS funds. Launched in 2022 with a volume of approximately €270 million, SHS VI has already allocated over 50% of its investable capital just one and a half years after its final closing.
Founded in 1994, the medium-sized Medizintechnik Rostock GmbH employs approximately 200 staff across its main locations in Rostock and Berlin, as well as in nationwide field operations. The company specialises in providing therapeutic devices for home use and is recognised as a quality leader in Germany, partnering with over 80 health insurers. In 2023, MTR conducted more than 140,000 treatments in the fields of motion, electro, and compression therapy.
