Dr. Jens-Dietrich Mitzlaff joins GÖRG’s Frankfurt Office

[Frankfurt am Main, ] On 1 February 2014, Dr. Jens-Dietrich Mitzlaff will join GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB as a partner in the Frankfurt Office. Mitzlaff, 46, was previously a partner with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Frankfurt and as of 2007, with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Mitzlaff’s areas of focus lie in real estate finance, corporate finance and acquisition finance. He has particular expertise in advising on restructuring situations and on the acquisition and workout of non-performing loan portfolios, including the workout of loans belonging to CMBS/RMBS structures. He is extremely well connected in this field to corresponding domestic and foreign market participants. In the past ten years, Mitzlaff additionally advised as a partner on numerous corporate financings (including cross-border matters) and acquisition financings.

Mitzlaff sees himself as posed with new challenges at GÖRG: “I very much look forward to combining my many years of experience in national and international financing projects and their restructuring with the reorganisation and restructuring expertise of GÖRG. With regard to the upcoming bank balance sheet adjustments in the next few years, I am convinced that together with the colleagues at GÖRG, many advisory approaches will arise here to the benefit of clients”.

Mitzlaff is the first new addition since the October 2013 election of to date Berlin-based partner Dr. Roland Hoffmann-Theinert as head of the GÖRG Frankfurt office: “We are very pleased with the strengthening of the Frankfurt team’s professional – and at the same time personnel – resources. Mr Mitzlaff provides high-calibre coverage of the complex financing dimensions of a cross-section of loan restructurings. We will thereby be even better positioned in the future to provide high-quality advice on and to restructure large-scale loan portfolios from real estate law, restructuring law and financing angles. With Mr Mitzlaff, we are systematically expanding our financing competence and we are reinforcing the teams working with Dr. Mark Kersting in the Frankfurt office and Andreas Peter and Dr. Michael Nienerza in Munich”.

In 2012, Dr. Florian Schmitz (42) also joined GÖRG’s Frankfurt office from Clifford Chance. GÖRG systematically continues in its efforts to sustainably expand the Frankfurt office.

Long-standing Frankfurt office head Werner Leipnitz, who belonged to GÖRG since 2000, has left the firm at the same time for age-related reasons. Mr. Leipnitz will continue to practice primarily as a notary.
