GÖRG Expands Hamburg M&A Practice with Paul Caesar Rode

27.07.2017

[Hamburg, ] GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB will expand its M&A practice with the addition of Paul Caesar Rode, who will join the firm's Hamburg office as associate partner as of 1 August 2017. A native of Hamburg, Rode will be returning to his home town after seven years with CMS Hasche Sigle in Düsseldorf.

Paul has acquired a wide range of experience in various areas, including domestic and international transactions, joint ventures and restructuring projects as well as privatizations and PPP projects, and his list of reference clients includes the names of DAX and MDAX, Fortune 500 and NASDAQ 100 companies. For example, in recent years, he advised E.ON on the realignment of its Ruhrgas division as well as various clients on M&A transactions in the energy and automotive areas and members of VW’s Supervisory Board in connection with the acquisition of Porsche’s operating activities in the year 2012. He is also one of the few experts with experience in the area of European Cooperatives (SCE).

According to Dr. Yorick Ruland, who heads GÖRG’s corporate law service line, the recruitment of Paul reflects GÖRG’s commitment to quality growth and will strengthen both the firm’s M&A practice as well as the Hamburg office. Rode’s arrival follows that of Dr. Marcus Herrmann, who came to GÖRG Frankfurt from Morgan Lewis in September 2016, and Dr. Oliver von Rosenberg and his team, who joined the Cologne location from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in November 2016. In May of 2017, Dr. Adalbert Rödding, who also came on board (with a principal associate) from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, added in-depth tax structure experience.

The move to GÖRG will also give Paul an opportunity to renew old acquaintances: “I’m looking forward to working together with my new colleagues as well as with colleagues from the past. I earned by first spurs as an M&A lawyer with Frank Evers’ team over ten years ago.”
