[Cologne, ] GÖRG’s Cologne tax practice will have a new partner as of 1 May 2017. The addition of Dr. Adalbert Rödding, an acknowledged fiscal expert, signals GÖRG’s commitment to expansion in this segment. Dr. Rödding will also be joined by another very experienced tax practitioner, Principal Associate Dr. Holger Dann, as counsel.
Dr. Rödding, who comes to GÖRG from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he spent eleven years as a partner with the international tax group, specialises in the structuring and financing of domestic and international M&A deals, restructuring and reorganisation, private equity and real estate transactions. His list of references includes the names of many national and international companies and investors such as, for example, EQT, Permira, Ströer, CVC, Deutsche Bank, Prelios, 360 Treasury Client, Barclays, Blackstone and Aviva.
Dr. Rödding views his career move as an opportunity to face interesting challenges: “GÖRG has ambitious plans in terms of further expansion in the areas of tax law, M&A and transactions. This is where I can make best use of my experience. I’m looking forward to working with new and former colleagues and the opportunity to support GÖRG’s efforts to expand in these areas.”
According to Dr. Michael Dolfen, a member of GÖRG’s management team: “The addition of Dr. Adalbert Rödding represents an important milestone for GÖRG since he will reinforce the fiscal expertise offered by our other practitioners in this area (Dr. Volker Schacht and Dr. Wibke Schumacher in Cologne, Prof. Dr. Strunk, Tax Advisor Benjamin Karten and Auditor/Tax Advisor Peter Stoffersen in Hamburg, Andreas Peter in Munich and Dr. Thomas Winkemann in Berlin).”
Dr. Yorick Ruland commented on the advantages for GÖRG’s corporate law service line: “GÖRG has also already acquired additional expertise and capacity in the area of the tax law in line with its efforts to expand its M&A practice, most recently with the addition of Dr. Marcus Herrmann in Frankfurt and Dr. Oliver von Rosenberg and his team in Cologne. The overall goal is to be able to offer consistent, cross-locational tax structuring from a single source, especially when corporate acquisitions, project business and other transactions are involved.”
Dr. Oliver von Rosenberg, who joined GÖRG in November 2016 and also came from Freshfields Bruckhaus, is also convinced that Dr. Adalbert Rödding will complement GÖRG’s current resources: “With Adalbert Rödding and his decades of domestic and international experience in the area of tax structuring, we can now offer the full array of resources and expertise to private equity clients and SMEs to ensure the optimum outcome of acquisitions and disposals. A major success for GÖRG’s fast-growing M&A practice."
