GÖRG Elects Four New Partners from Own Ranks in 2017

31.05.2017

[Cologne, ] GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB elected lawyers Nils Meissner (Essen), Dr. Marc Schüffner (Berlin), Sascha Feies (Berlin) and Dr. Michael Heise (Frankfurt am Main) to partnership at a meeting of partners held in Berlin on 19 May 2017.

Nils Meissner, who has been with GÖRG’s Essen office since February 2003, is a credentialed specialist in insolvency law. He has also studied business administration (IWW) and regularly addresses various professional associations.

Dr. Marc Schüffner has been advising clients of GÖRG’s Berlin location in the areas of public commercial law and health law since October 2007: Marc is also especially well versed in administration and constitutional law. For example, he recently successfully represented various German states before the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Administrative Court in test cases brought to determine the constitutionality of new legislation governing gambling halls. Marc is a deputy member of the judge selection committee of the State of Berlin.

Sascha Feies joined GÖRG’s Berlin restructuring and insolvency management practice group in January 2013, when the Hamburg office was expanded and the second Berlin office opened. The two Berlin offices have since both moved to the new Upper West location.

Dr. Michael Heise, LL.M. (University of Pennsylvania), has been practicing at the GÖRG Frankfurt office since April 2014. His primary focus lies in IT law and outsourcing. However, Michael is also active in the areas of contract and commercial law and advises clients on transactions in various technology sectors, including renewable energy. Michael’s clients include national and international companies that offer or use technology-related services.

Back in January of this year, GÖRG appointed Michael Alber (IP/IT/Commercial, Berlin), Björn Epler (Tax Advice & Audit, BWLS, Hamburg), Dr. Oliver Jauch (Public Commercial Law / Environment and Planning / Procurement, Hamburg), Tilman Jung (Tax Advice & Audit, BWLS, Hamburg), Dr. Daniel Schmitz (Restructuring and Insolvency Administration, Cologne), Dr. Elisabeth Strüwer (IP/IT/Commercial, Cologne) and Dr. Michael Zenker (Corporate, Banking and Capital Markets, Cologne) as associated partners.

The election of partners from our own ranks permits strategic expansion and at the same time reflects our corporate policy of entrusting our lawyers with responsibility from the very beginning and investing in their personal and professional development. Dr. Michael Dolfen sums up GÖRG’s philosophy: “We are pleased to be able once again to offer partnerships to young colleagues from our own ranks. GÖRG remains convinced that the promotion of junior colleagues offers the greatest potential for further expansion and growth for our firm. We intend to remain committed to this philosophy in the future.” In recent years, lawyers from our junior ranks have regularly been promoted to partnership.
