Mert Kilic advises national and international clients on all aspects of banking law as well as banking and financial supervisory law. He has a particular focus on stock exchange law.
In particular, he represents various non-European securities trading companies and stock exchange trading participants in numerous sanction proceedings under stock exchange law as well as in other administrative, administrative court and official liability proceedings under supervisory law.
In this context, Mert Kilic has special expertise on issues of trade-based market manipulation (in particular on allegations of layering and spoofing) as well as on issues relating to the regulation of algorithmic trading and high-frequency trading.
In addition, he advises European credit and securities institutions on compliance investigations by domestic and foreign supervisory authorities and, in particular, non-European credit institutions, groups and family offices on their entry into the European financial market.
Career
Before joining GÖRG, he worked as a lawyer for a US and a European commercial law firm in Frankfurt am Main and spent a secondment with a US securities trading company based in Chicago.
After studying law at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Mert Kilic completed his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main with stations at a European commercial law firm and a higher federal authority.
He was admitted to the bar in 2022.
