Our lawyers have published a guest article in AssCompact on the Barrier-Free Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG). The law, which is based on the European Accessibility Directive (EAA), obliges companies to make their products and services accessible from 28 June 2025.
Manufacturers, retailers and service providers in areas such as e-commerce, telecommunications and financial services are particularly affected. The requirements range from digital accessibility and labelling obligations to the documentation of proof of conformity. Violations can not only result in warnings and fines, but also restrict market access.
In view of the short implementation period, it is advisable to quickly check whether products or services are covered by the BFSG obligations. If necessary, companies should make the necessary adjustments and create barrier-free structures - be it through optimised websites or clearly understandable product information. In e-commerce in particular, it pays to make all processes accessible, from product presentation to the payment process.
