GÖRG gains three partners and one Of Counsel at its Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt offices and substantially strengthens its corporate/M&A, venture capital and financial regulatory practice areas

GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB welcomes three new partners and one Of Counsel. While Sebastian Frech from Norton Rose Fulbright is moving to the Munich office and Prof. Dr. Stephan R. Göthel from Pier11 to the Hamburg office, Dr. Kolja Stehl from Sidley Austin LLP and Dr. Volker Baas from GSK Stockmann are joining GÖRG's Frankfurt office. The addition of four experienced lawyers represents a significant reinforcement and expansion of GÖRG's corporate/M&A, venture capital and regulatory law expertise.

Sebastian Frech, Munich

GÖRG is expanding its Corporate/M&A practice in Munich with the addition of Sebastian Frech as an equity partner. Mr. Frech comes from Norton Rose Fulbright and has many years of experience in national and cross-border M&A and venture capital transactions. His special expertise lies in advising climatetech and deeptech investors as well as start-ups and scale-ups with business models in the energy and mobility sectors. Sebastian Frech is expected to take up his new role at GÖRG in spring 2024.

Prof. Dr. Stephan R. Göthel LL.M. (Cornell), Hamburg

In Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Stephan R. Göthel joins GÖRG as an equity partner in the Corporate/M&A and Venture Capital department. Mr. Göthel comes from the Hamburg law firm Pier11, which he co-founded at the time. Mr. Göthel has proven expertise in national and cross-border M&A and venture capital transactions. He advises start-ups as well as strategic and financial investors from the first financing rounds to the exit. Stephan Göthel has been with GÖRG since 1 January 2024.

Dr. Kolja Stehl and Dr. Volker Baas, Frankfurt am Main

Dr. Kolja Stehl, an internationally experienced regulatory expert, is joining GÖRG. As an equity partner at the Frankfurt office, he will expand the practice for German and European financial regulatory law. Kolja Stehl advises domestic and foreign clients - in particular banks, insurers, fund managers, clearing houses and trading platforms - both with regard to their day-to-day business and in connection with complex, cross-border transactions. He joined GÖRG on 8 January 2024.

Coming from GSK Stockmann, Dr. Volker Baas has been strengthening the financial regulatory law department at the Frankfurt office as Of Counsel since 1 December 2023. His focus includes banking regulatory law as well as capital investment and investment law. He also advises clients on stock exchange law, electronic banking and compliance.
