GÖRG partners Dr Michael Nienerza and Dr Katharina Landes advise insolvent Esprit on the sale of main IP rights to Deichmann

Munich/Cologne, 24.10.2024

GÖRG has successfully advised Esprit on the sale of significant intellectual property rights to Deichmann as part of Esprit's ongoing self-administration insolvency proceedings. The GÖRG team was led by partner Dr Michael Nienerza and Dr Katharina Landes.

Esprit is set to close all its physical stores in the near future. The sale of its main trademark, domain, and social media rights to Deichmann will allow the footwear retailer to integrate the iconic Esprit brand into its product portfolio, with a focus on footwear rights.

Dr Michael Nienerza, who led the GÖRG team, noted: "The sale of these IP rights is a significant step in Esprit’s restructuring. We are pleased to have been able to assist during this challenging period and to help preserve the Esprit brand, even as the company itself ceases operations."

The GÖRG team included specialists in insolvency law, intellectual property, IT, and tax law, ensuring the transaction was successfully completed despite the complexities of the insolvency process.
