As the new owner, financial investor HKT is taking over the headquarter and bakery of the traditional bakery Kayser in Neuenrade as well as all 17 branches with a total of around 120 employees with retroactive effect from 1 January 2025. Business operations will continue without restriction and will be reorganised with investments in the product range and the company's image towards customers.
GÖRG Partner Dr Mike Westkamp acted as the trustee for Kayser GmbH bakery in its self-administration insolvency procedure. Under the leadership of its general representative, lawyer Daniel Meintz from the DM law firm, the company had implemented the necessary restructuring measures over the past ten months, thereby creating the conditions for a successful transfer-based restructuring. With the approval of the trustee, the self-administering management and the new managing director, Kimio Tremmel, have now signed the purchase agreement for the bakery's assets. The new management plans to secure the long-term competitiveness of the bakery through investments in its product range and appearance.
"With the continuation of the bakery's operations and the successful completion of the investor process, the best possible outcome for the insolvency creditors and employees has been achieved. I wish the traditional company and its dedicated staff all the best for the future," said Dr Mike Westkamp.
Kayser GmbH bakery from Neuenrade filed for self-administration insolvency proceedings with the Hagen District Court on March 18, 2024. The bakery had been struggling with significant sales declines since late 2021. After the Rahmedetal Bridge was permanently closed at the end of 2021 due to irreparable damage to the structure, sales figures at many of its branch locations dropped noticeably.

About the bakery Kayser
In 1890, the Kayser family founded the bakery in Neustadtstraße in Werdohl, Germany. After around 90 years, the company headquarter and bakery were relocated to Neuenrade. There they found enough space to supply the growing number of branches in the Märkisches Sauerland region with fresh products. In 2009, master baker Franz-Josef Klems took over the company from Karl-Wilhelm Kayser and Sabine Heyd-Kayser.
