Cologne, 03.05.2022

Last weekend, the partners' meeting of GÖRG decided to appoint colleagues Markus Beyer, Dr. Karl-Friedrich Curtze, Michael Gierth, Dr. Oliver Jauch, Dr. Katharina Landes, Dr. Jan Peter Müller, Dr. Jan-Henric M. Punte, Claus Christopher Schiller and Dr. Raul Taras as partners. In addition, Björn Epler and Tilman Jung were added to the partnership of the tax advice firm BWLS, which is part of the law firm group. The appointments are each effective retroactively as of 1 January 2022.

"We warmly congratulate our colleagues on their well-deserved inclusion in the partnership," says Dr Christian Wolf, GÖRG partner and representative of the firm's executive management. "We are very pleased that we were able to appoint such a large number of outstanding and talented lawyers from our own ranks again this year. This is further proof that GÖRG – even in difficult times – always consistently focuses on organic growth."

The new GÖRG partners in overview:

Markus Beyer, LL.M. (Chicago) is a specialist for commercial and corporate law in GÖRG's Frankfurt office. He advises companies, private equity and venture capital funds and other financial investors in M&A and private equity transactions on all matters of commercial and corporate law.

Dr. Karl-Friedrich Curtze is based in Hamburg and advises nationally and internationally active companies in M&A transactions as well as on all issues in connection with crises and restructurings.

At the Munich office, Michael Gierth assists domestic and international clients on all legal matters relating to financing, acquisition, development, management, leasing and sale of real estate, as well as in the field of investments in real estate funds.

Dr. Oliver Jauch joined GÖRG in Hamburg in 2013 and advises the public sector as well as nationally and internationally active companies on all aspects of public commercial law, in particular procurement law, as well as subsidy law and public funding law.

Dr. Katharina Landes advises companies in all matters of IP law at the Cologne office. She has many years of experience, especially in the fields of trademark, design, copyright and competition law.

Dr. Jan Peter Müller works in Frankfurt in the fields of public procurement (procurement law), as well as funding legislation and EU state aid law. He advises clients in the public sector, as well as national and international companies on complex investment and transaction projects in the public sector.

Dr Jan-Henric M. Punte, LL.M. (Hull) joined GÖRG's Hamburg office in 2017. He advises national and international clients on all aspects of corporate law as well as (cross-border) M&A transactions.

From the Cologne office, Claus Christopher Schiller advises companies on all aspects of corporate law as well as stock corporation and capital market law issues, in particular on M&A and private equity transactions as well as on company formations, restructurings and other structural measures under corporate law.

Dr. Raul Taras also works in the Cologne office, from where he advises companies and insolvency administrators on all aspects of crisis and insolvency. He assists the parties involved in all stages of restructuring. A further focus of his work is litigation in insolvency-related matters.

New BWLS partners:

Dipl.-Fw. (FH) Björn Epler advises national companies on all aspects of German tax law. He has significant experience in the field of insolvency tax law and also specialises in providing tax advice on reorganisation and restructuring measures.

As an auditor, Dipl.-Kfm. Tilman Jung is responsible for the annual financial statements of national and international companies. Another focus of his work is the cooperative work with GÖRG lawyers as part of restructuring projects and insolvency proceedings.

Through the partnership with BWLS Strunk Stoffersen Partnerschaft mbB, an integrated tax advice and auditing company with its head office in Hamburg, GÖRG is able to additionally complement its comprehensive advisory approach of auditing, tax advice and legal advice, offering the entire advisory portfolio from a single source.

At the beginning of the year, GÖRG's career committee had already announced the appointment of six counsels and ten associated partners from its own ranks, who were thus able to reach the next step on the career ladder towards equity partnership.
