GÖRG, led by Cologne-based partner Dr Wolf zur Nieden, advised a subsidiary of a&o hostels GmbH & Co. KG (a&o) on the acquisition of an undeveloped plot of land in Heidelberg for the development of a company-owned hostel with 118 rooms.
The property, conveniently located near Heildeberg´s main train station, covers approximately 1,400 square meters. The seller is a regional project developer. The purchase price remains confidential. Over the next few years, an a&o hostel with 118 rooms and 320 beds will be built on the site. Building permits have already been granted, and the opening is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The a&o hotel and hostel chain was founded in Berlin in 2000 by Oliver Winter and Michael Kluge. With 40 locations in 25 cities, a&o is now the largest privately owned hostel chain in Europe.
GÖRG conducted the entire legal due diligence and advised the buyer on the simultaneous conclusion of a general contractor agreement with HEBERGER Hoch-, Tief- und Ingenieurbau GmbH, as well as on other structuring matters.
