GÖRG advises Stadtwerke Karlsruhe on the acquisition of a stake in the 62.7 MW Schneifelhöhe wind farm

Cologne, 26.02.2024

GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB has advised Stadtwerke Karlsruhe on the acquisition of the ENOVA Group's shares in the Schneifelhöhe wind farm, the largest wind farm in Rhineland-Palatinate to date.

The Schneifelhöhe wind farm in the Bitburg-Prüm district is scheduled to be commissioned in mid-2026. According to current plans, the wind farm consists of eleven Nordex N163 wind turbines, each with a rated output of 5.7 megawatts. The wind farm will therefore have a total capacity of 62.7 megawatts, making it the largest approved wind power project in Rhineland-Palatinate. The estimated annual green electricity generation is around 200 million kilowatt hours, which can supply 72,000 two-person households with electricity.

Stadtwerke Karlsruhe now holds a 33.3 percent stake in the Schneifelhöhe wind farm, which was previously held by the ENOVA Group.

A GÖRG team led by our partner Thoralf Herbold and Dr. Ruth Büchl-Winter (Counsel) and Dr. Ilka Mainz (Associate Partner) conducted a legal due diligence for Stadtwerke Karlsruhe, structured the purchase process and advised them on all legal issues in connection with the successful transaction. In addition to energy law expertise, the advice also included corporate law and antitrust law aspects.

GÖRG regularly advises operators of solar and wind energy parks as well as investors on the acquisition and sale of renewable energy plants. In addition, GÖRG supports project developers in the implementation of energy generation and storage facilities.
