GÖRG advises thyssenkrupp Marine Systems on the acquisition of the Wismar shipyard site of the insolvent MV Werften

Hamburg, 13.06.2022

GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB advised thyssenkrupp Marine Systems GmbH (tkMS) on the acquisition of the shipyard at the site in Wismar from the insolvency administrator of MV Werften Wismar, Dr. Christoph Morgen of Brinkmann & Partner.

Due to the corona-related slump in the cruise business, the international MV Werften Holding with its German shipyards in Rostock, Stralsund and Wismar had to initiate insolvency proceedings.

Wismar is now the second site of the insolvent companies after Stralsund to be successfully transferred. The buyer is a subsidiary of tkMS. The buyer belongs to the Marine Systems business segment of thyssenkrupp. thyssenkrupp Marine Systems is one of the world's leading system suppliers for submarines and naval vessels.

A GÖRG team led by Hamburg partners Dr Thorsten Bieg and Dr Karl-Friedrich Curtze provided comprehensive legal advice to tkMS on the successful acquisition of the shipyard in Wismar as part of an asset deal. GÖRG had already advised the buyers of the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, which also belongs to MV Werften Holding, earlier this year.
